Why I Love What I Do - My Passion

I’ve always had a passion for teaching and helping people feel better. From the time I was a young girl and taught two of my friends how to harmonize a TV commercial song, from the time I taught young women how to be models, from the time I taught students job related skills and medical billing, and taught teachers how to teach certain courses. I can write a syllabus in my sleep.

Also as a young girl I remember how I hated to see anyone I cared about feeling sick. My father, my brothers, my friends, it didn’t matter. I was always trying to find some ways to help them feel better and would often “nurse” my brothers back to health.

I can still remember when after I had moved into my first apartment, my older brother had gotten a really bad cold, and came over to my apartment, laid himself out on my floor with a blanket and commanded me to “take care of him”. Why? Because he knew I would, and he knew I could and the funny thing is, I didn’t give him medicine. He had brought some cough medicine with him and wanted me to administer it to him but I remember telling him that that medicine was going to make him worse and not better. I healed him with soup and fruit, water and tea. He did whatever I told him to do and ate whatever I gave him. The next morning he got up off of my floor and went home feeling much better.

Now I’m teaching wellness and my first student was myself. I became a certified Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer,  and formed Deeva Pilates & Wellness in Hillside, NJ to help women who are going through menopause, those who have stressfull lives (personal and/or job wise) and those who are looking to increase their strength, flexibility and muscle tone One Breath One Move One Muscle At A Time.
